Night diver

Many people are nervous about diving at night for the first time. The PADI night diver specialty course will allay your fears and teach you how to get the most out of a night dive in a safe and controlled way.

Diving on a reef at night is completely different to a day dive. The marine life acts differently at night and you’ll see different things too. You are likely to see more crustaceans, especially shrimps who’s eyes will reflect in your torch beam, crabs and lobsters. Some fish are attracted to your torch beach, like squid.

The bio luminescence in the water will amaze you the first time you see it. Your focus is narrower on night dives as your vision is limited to your dive light beam so you there is an extra intensity to the dive. Night dives offer excellent opportunities for underwater photography with a strobe and videography with a light. And if you want you can pretend you are 007 on a secret spying mission 🙂

Night diving does present some extra hazards that need to be considered and these will be covered in the course. On the night diver course you will lean how to plan and organize a night dive so that you get back to the boat safely without getting lost. Yo
u will cover procedures for extries, exits, descends and ascends, signalling methods, underwater navigation at night, buoyancy control, equipment requirements, marine life hazards and much more.
